I have been posting the things I am learning on facebook, but I deactivated my account, so I thought I would share today’s thoughts on here.
I read Nehemiah 6:15-16 today.
So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty-two days.
And when all our enemies heard of it, all the nations around us were afraid and fell greatly in their own esteem, for they perceived that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God.
What an amazing book. Every day I am astonished by what God reveals through his Word. Today’s passage was so inspiring. Especially considering the kind of day its been.
If I am not writing with my usual vim, vigor and vitality, it is because I am more than a little under the weather. I can’t recall the last time I was so sick. I have spent most of the day with my head on my desk attempting to keep up with my work schedule.
Enough about that though. Let me tell you about the exciting things in life, aka what God showed me in his Word.
Sometimes it seems like success is so slow to come to us. There are physical and spiritual battles to be fought, enemies to be routed and fears to be conquered. Culling people from my life, finding out who my true friends are, this illness… It all seems a bit overwhelming.
But then I read in Nehemiah, and it says that when the people of God put their trust in him, God proves faithful and grants them success in their endeavors. In the midst of ridicule, bitter attacks by the enemy, back-breaking work to clear the rubble and restore the wall of the city, Nehemiah and the people have finally finished the task God put on his heart. Their enemies hurled taunts that insulted their faith, but still the wall builders pressed on. Now, against all odds, the wall was completed—a monumental task accomplished by many with the help of one—God. No one could have imagined that the work could be done, much less in 52 days! It was a God moment. And even their enemies knew it!
So, no matter how I feel or what kind of distractions come my way, I will remember that every victory I achieve comes from my heavenly father and he will give me the strength to finish the task. I am so grateful for the successes I have seen already in my life and so excited to see what the next phase is.
