I have been mulling over the question: What am I hoping for? What am I expecting in life? Am I looking for something good to happen or expecting to be disappointed?
So many people are feeling hopeless these days. I run into people all the time who are unhappy with their lives and feel there will never be better times. I used to be one of those people. I struggled with hopelessness so badly that I attempted suicide. However, Jesus did not die for us to be hopeless. He died so that we could be full of hope.
The devil wants to steal our hope and he will lie to us. He’ll tell us that nothing good can happen in our life or that the things we care about won’t last. He will use people to point out how “awful” we are, and what we are doing wrong. When we struggle with a difficult situation, he tells us it will never end.
But it’s our responsibility to stay full of hope and remember that the devil is a liar.
Our Father is good, and He has good plans for our lives. When we maintain hope, especially in the midst of troubled and uncertain times, He promised “double for our trouble”. So refuse to give up hope. Start expecting God to do something, something good
