It was brought to my attention that my previous post could be seen as self-aggrandizing, which was absolutely not the idea behind it.
At first, I wanted to be offended. I wanted to defend myself since this blog had always been about me sharing my random thoughts on my world.
Then I realized, maybe this could be an opportunity for me to humble myself and learn something.
Although this blog still functions primarily as my journal, the fact that people read it means I also want people to learn and grow from the things I write as I learn and grow.
We’ve been on this journey together for a long time now… So here’s my latest area of growth.
I need to be quieter. I know that seems to be a direct conflict with my last post, but please hear me out because they actually work together.
I learned that in order to be a better supporter to the Black community, I need to be promoting and referring to Black leaders and activists to ensure their voices are heard.
I have never had the same experiences in regards to the color of my skin, therefore I cannot write with full accuracy based on my feelings about the current state of our world.
So, in an effort to remedy my mistake, I would like to refer you to people who know this fight far better than I, so you can educate yourself.
I stole these photos from fb, and I’m not sure who to credit for the information, so please let me know if you are aware of who created them.
